Does anyone know how the % gain is calculated on the performance stats - at the moment, the headline % gain seems unrelated to the actual % gain per month.  Is it just based on the increase in account size from the initial deposit?  In that case couldn't someone just deposit $1 in their account, and periodically deposit $1 a month, making 100% gain in a month?  The profit % needs to be calculated surely as absolute profit - the % of gain from trading divided by (total amount of money deposited - amount withdrawn) otherwise the stat is worthless, and makes navigating the performance forum difficult.

The percentage gain on top of statement is actually time-weighted return. It is also known as geometric mean return.

But I have seen several accounts with 1000s of % that don't add up if you look at the monthly gains - hence it must include other factors other than trading gains

Yes, some traders do have percentage gain that is not true. It is because their trading data doesnt show full statement. They have not selected all trading history from their metatrader platform. That is why we see insanely high profit percentage.

Can you choose the time period to include all of metatrader in that case as a viewer, or is that strictly controlled by the signal provider?

Trader cannot choose selective time period. But if he do not choose all timeframe from metatrader platform then it will not show full trading history. but only of last 3 months or maybe 1 month. It depends on what is selected.

So basically the trader is able to hide their trading history from people, but not selectively.  Then only signal services with a 6 month time period would be worth looking at in that case.

What other factor can be that must be trading gain that a trader get after trading. If ther is any doubt than we can clear that with while checking the statement which shoes the transections. But when we talk about the gain taht's purly the profit that a trader earn.

Thats what should be reflected in the headline stat - profit over the deposit.

Yeah you can make 100% profit with forex trading but remember do not re-invest your funds again and again and never became greedy and just trade with some concentration and emotions like patients.
