I actually think that indices are easier than forex to trade, because trends are more obvious, and it is also less vulnerable to talking heads or new announcements.  They also tend to take longer to turn, and gather momentum as opposed to forex that can be very whipsaw like.

When a trader get into this business at that time time he come to know about the lucrative returns that are only possibel in this business after that he never think about anyother business and he stick with this one.

Many trader think about this when they get enough from forex trading.

Forex as an investment is not really possible as it is ranging.  There are grandmothrs who put money into a share and it eventually goes up in value by many times.  This doesn't happen in forex - if you invested in gbpusd, it would be around the same price in a few years.

Forex is hard, and this is a good training ground to develop psychological and mental aptitude for traders. From where I come from, many people prefer options trading compared to forex trading as they see it as more predictable and easier to manage, however the gains is not that high compared to forex.

As for EAs, some do work and and some don't. To maximize an EA's potential you should be able to:

1. Know the market which means understanding indicators and when a trend will change or when the market will range.

2. Set the EA to open trades in the smallest lot sizes possible, the smallest that will enable your capital to last for a few weeks.

3. When the market changes its conditions then it is time to change the settings of your EA.

4. Understand that EAs are not 100% correct. They are not a set-and-forget type of setup. Besides, who wants to earn without being able to understand what the market is all about? Don't we want to brag about something we deeply know and understand to the curious? Who knows maybe one day our knowledge and experience will help someone in need.

Well if by investment u mean to open a trade and forget for years, then maybe it do not give good return. But in forex, usually investment is done by predicting trends. If prediction is right, you will earn if not then u will loose. In both cases (right/wrong), you close trade.
