... the reward to risk ratio will tell only part of the story. If you have a trading system that you think may work, backtest the strategy, and then calculate the expectancy. You may find that that the strategy makes money, even if the reward to risk ratio is not ideal.

Yes, ... an investor who trades currency can subscribe to a signal service. The signal provider provides recommendations about when to buy and sell a currency. Unlike a managed forex account, the investor retains the authority to buy and sell currency, and the investor does not have to follow a signal if he believes he will incur a loss.
Disconnection. A forex signal adviser tells his client both when to open a trade and when to leave it. If the investor's communication link with the adviser is broken while the investor has open trades, the investor may not have the currency trading knowledge to exit the trade at the correct time, leading to a loss or lesser gains.
Price Quotes. To provide accurate signals, the signal provider needs accurate and timely price information, which he can get from a reputable forex broker. Forex brokers use their own sources of information to quote currency prices to their clients, so price quotes differ slightly between brokers. If the signal provider uses a different forex broker than his client uses, the signals may be profitable for trades at the provider's broker and unprofitable at the client's broker.
Spread. Each forex broker sets a spread between the bid and ask price for a currency, which provides its profit. If the signal provider uses a forex broker that has lower spreads than the client's forex broker charges, the spread may result in reduced performance.
