MT4 EAs r written in MQL4. So only programmers r able to program it. Is it possible that we can perform similar function through any other application?

For example excel. I can analyze in excel but I dont know if there is a macro which can execute commands in mt4. I have seen and made some complex programs in vba but dont know if it can help in making an EA sort thing.

Does any body know about such a thing?

I am of the view that excel can be used for analysis and automation. External programs can also be openned with the help of vba. I dont know much about it but I dun think it can automate ur trading otherwise there would have been vba written EAs.

My knowledge about these developing things is poor. But I agree with jogi that if there would have been a way to develop EA through excel then there should be some excel developed EAs around.

I want to add one more thing that by browsing on internet I came through a few excel programs that were able to import prices on real time basis. The only thing left is now executing trades based on those prices. So maybe an excel programmer can do that and maybe not due to limitations of vba.

Not possible. Only analysis is possible in excel. You can import prices and u can perform analysis but u cannot program it to control mt4. Lets assume that u r able to control mt4 through excel vba then first issue will be execution speed. It will be really bad.

Dun u think that u r being optimistic about the use of excel.

No, I dun think so. Excel can open and close applications with the use of vba. It can use key commands to operate. The only thing I see as a drawback is its execution speed which will affect a lot in volatile sessions.

Another difficulty will be limitations of vba in excel. MQL4 is specially designed for mt4 to help in automated trading. So it is a lot easier and beneficial to make EA in mql4.

It will not be possible to perform all functions of mql4 in vba.
