It seems a trend seems to occur after a period of ranging and consolidation, usually with a false break or move in one direction.  It would be nice if an indicator would show this.

Don't think there is any indicator that shows that - would be worth a lot if there was!

In forex 100% correct prediction is not possible. So such an indicator is out of debate. But by mixing different indicators, it is possible to predict trend with higher probability of success.

Isn't the easiest way of defining a trend a series of higher highs and lower lows, or vice versa?  Something that is going higher is an uptrend, something lower is a downtrend.  The easiest way to see where it will reverse is to look for any major resistance and support.  If its far from resistance or support, and its trending, then you have your trend.
